What do I need to have in order to play Dungeons & Dragons?
D&D is a great game that has been around over 40 years, the best part of being a D&D player is that you can actually have maximum fun for minimal investment. you will need a set of 7 Polyhedral Dice, a pencil, an eraser, a Character Sheet(can be provided by the store if needed) and your imagination.
What if I can't find a group to play with?
Not to worry, The Frugal Dutchman will be accepting players into our community adventure party. you can sign up to come and play with other players who, like yourself, are looking to play D&D with new people and hopefully make some friends or frienemies along the way.
Isn't Dungeons and Dragons super difficult to learn?
Not at all, with the release of 5th Edition, Dungeons & Dragons is easier than ever to learn, our Dungeon Master and retail staff are also here to answer any questions you might have or put to rest any concerns. That's right every staff member at The Frugal Dutchman have played D&D and love to chat role-playing games with our customers.
Is there a way to see what Dungeons and Dragons is like before i start playing?
Absolutely, the Frugal Dutchman has Campaigns running on a regular basis, if you are interested in watching a session before jumping into the world of role-playing, our adventurers are always open to having spectators at their sessions.
Won't a newbie like me ruin the game for the more experienced players?
Not even a little bit, Everything we do here at The Frugal Dutchman is designed to bridge the gap between new players and seasoned vetrans, our player community here is very accepting and understanding of new players and the learning curve involved, after all we were all newbies once, the best way to learn any game is by playing with people who can teach you as you play.
How long does a campaign take?
The length of a campaign is determined by the speed at which the players drive the story, it is possible to speed your way through a story but often you end up missing things and not enjoying the intricacies of some of the character stories and interactions, alternatively dragging your feet on every decision, and exploring every nook and cranny of every town or dungeon might cause the party to lose interest or focus on their objective. The Dungeon Master will be sure to encourage a good pace of play.
A campaign consists of multiple sessions where players come together to adventure and continue the story from where they left off. a single session is usually 3-5 hours and much can be accomplished.
